DIFFMERGE MAC INSTALL
In the comments section, Zeya has a solution for the Mac version of p4v, which after some tinkering I got to work. Install the App Press Command+Space and type Terminal and press enter/return key.
I found a great blog post about just this over at Ed’s Blog, but it was for Windows. The trick is to get Perforce ( p4v) to use it. It is free, and seems to crash less than p4merge. I got so sick of it, I sought out alternatives, when I came across DiffMerge by SourceGear. Mainly because it tends to crash while doing merges often. I use Perforce at work and I rather dislike the merge tool that comes with it, p4merge. At least for files which consist of text, TortoiseMerge. Run this command: git config -global mergetool.Setting up SourceGear DiffMerge with Perforce in Mac OS X It is a diff / merge software tool for Windows with a tight integration for TortoiseSVN. orig extensions after each successful merge.
DIFFMERGE MAC UPDATE
Update - If you're getting an error saying diffmerge command not found, you might want to try this: ln -s /Applications/DiffMerge.app/Contents/Resources/diffmerge.sh /usr/local/bin/diffmergeĪlso, you might not want git to create backups with. Git config -global "diffmerge -merge -result=\$MERGED \$LOCAL \$BASE \$REMOTE" However git mergetool doesn't support DiffMerge by default, so running these commands in terminal will use DiffMerge as the default git merge tool. Therefore I've been looking for some alternative and found DiffMerge, which is similar to meld and with a better-OS-X-UI-feeling. I tried to find some setting, where I could explicitly set the encoding to UTF-8, but to no avail. I found today that DiffMerge does not show correctly UTF-8 encoded files (for example, Japanese text).
DIFFMERGE MAC MAC OSX
Installing meld on OS X was a pain (Now you can simply brew install meld!) because of some dependencies issues. I'm currently running DiffMerge 3.3 on Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger). I used to use meld in linux to solve the merge conflicts where it has a simple and straight forward interface (Personally prefer the 3-columns-view).
